for generous hearts
A woman down the street from me recently took in six foster children. I don't know this woman, but I have so much admiration for her, and for others like her, who open their homes to children in need. I am thankful for their generous hearts. Some of the ladies in my neighborhood rallied together and donated enough clothing and cash to outfit those six children for the winter. I was lucky to be the one who collected and sorted the donations and I was completely overwhelmed by the generosity that was shown to this family! Every time some cash or a box of clothes showed up on my doorstep, I was brought to tears. There is so much goodness in the world. Today I am thankful that I was able to witness some of it.

Ahhh, this brings tears to my eyes. I've been a reader of yours for a while now (found you via Clover Lane). I love your writing and I'm also from Phoenix (I grew up in Chandler), so it's always fun to read about my "home" away from home. I have a friend in Gilbert who just took in three children to foster (in addition to her own three children), and I've been so touched by how she's living her love for people out loud. And then this story....wow. So beautiful. And that's so wonderful that you're helping out in such a big way.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool.
ReplyDeleteOur family has been fostering for almost 3 years. It has truly blessed our home. I encourage you all to consider it.
ReplyDeleteI've been catching up on your blog. A few posts have made me teary. The one about David Bednar's talk and now this one. I couldn't help but thank you for sharing your life here and sharing with others. That sweet foster mama bless her heart and as a foster mom you lifted a huge burden for her by helping to outfit those children who usually come with very little and what they do come with is often not appropriate for size or season. xoxo
