Sewing

Yesterday I was a slave to my sewing machine.

I love working on a sewing project, but while I am in the midst of it, I find it impossible do anything else until I'm done. Like eat, or drink, or leave my office. Then I end up with a whopper of a headache. Sigh. Sometimes I hate sewing.

But yesterday wasn't so bad, because aside from the sewing-induced headache, I ended up with these:

a pretty skirt for me

It is a little bit full, dressy, and springy. I thought it turned out pretty well considering I didn't use a pattern and only had a vague idea of what I wanted.

a pretty dress for Mabel

I used Butterick 3350, but I changed the sleeves. I chose a linen-like fabric, so it feels really good. The best part about her dress is that she loves it. I can tell she feels special when she has it on. She didn't want to stop twirling.

Easter Sunday here we come.

  2. Way to get a head start! I finally picked up a pattern for the girls Easter outfits. Did you put a zipper in the skirt?

  6. LOVE your skirt.

Mabel's dress is adorable. I've got the feeling that with moving and everything, my girls just aren't getting Easter dresses this year. :(

  8. Darling! And I must say, I was looking for sewing inspiration today and yours was the first site I clicked on having no idea there would be sewing and vaguely knowing you were Leslie's sister. Thanks!

  11. Both skirt and dress are beautiful! I'm the same way when I get sewing and Tim hates it. He says I neglect all things when I sew...it's true! I like to finish my project. If I spend all that time cutting the pattern, goshdarnit, I'm going to see it to the end!! : )

I've taken a break from sewing because of the slight obsessive fabric shopping it induces, but looking at these pretty pieces is lighting that fire again. uh oh...

  15. I can't believe you made that without a pattern- it is really cute, and you have a tiny waist, and I love Maybel's dress.

  17. Stephanie, this is Nicole Rollins, from your Provo ward way back when...I saw a comment posted on Alissa's blog about Stephanie and Mabel, and figuring it was you, had to click over.

You children are adorable and you look as cute as I remember you. Also, I'm very impressed with your sewing abilities. My mother is an excellent seamstress, I don't have a clue and wish I did.

Ben is getting his MBA right now and we're living in Mexico for his last semester. Feel free to check out our blog...www.theradrollins.blogspot.com.

It's good to see you guys...well, at least pictures of you guys!
