Yea or nay?
I can't decide. I want to like them, but I kind of feel like I am wearing a tent. But they seem so cute and effortless. What do you think, would you wear one?
p.s. I can't thank you enough for your weaning wisdom. You are all so wonderful! You gave me lots of things to think about and to try. I will let you know how it goes, but for now we are having good success with watered down whole milk.
p.p.s. I am still nursing at night. And maybe sometimes during the day, too. :)
I love them. I currently have one that I wear to the pool, and I am waiting for a pattern to come out (in July, I think) so I can make some more. Let's see a full length shot!
ReplyDeleteI love maxi dresses so much. They are so EASY. And comfortable. They're like pajamas that are trendy and totally acceptable to wear in public.

But what about the length? I am about the same height as you, and I feel like everything is too long. I don't have any (yet) because I feel like they would drag on the floor. (I guess I could always hem them... but that would require pulling out the sewing machine... and I'm not so sure about that....)
ReplyDeleteI say yay. I love them!
ReplyDeleteKate, this one is from Old Navy and totally drags on the floor. It will require hemming, but I am willing.
ReplyDeleteLOVE! This is my third summer in AZ and I am planning on wearing them as often as possible. They are cooler than shorts (and if I don't get around to shaving my legs no one has to know). I have had to hem each of mine too. But well it has been well worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteI think they look great on everyone else, but I haven't tried one on for myself yet. I always hop on the fashion band wagon late. I bet they look cute on you!
ReplyDeleteYea for Maxi dresses! BUT you do have to find the right one, because like you said, they can be like a tent. Keep your eyes out for those that have a nice silhouette and don't have too much extra fabric around. I'm loving that I can wear my maxi dresses while I'm pregnant too. Super comfy!
ReplyDeleteCute. Fun seeing you out and about today for a minute. I saw the cute maxi dresses there too, maybe I'll snag one another day.
ReplyDeleteI tried the watered down whole milk today after talking to you on Sunday. She totally spit it out but she will eventually like it.
i think i've seen one that has sleeves, that's my issue with them. they are super cute, but most often sleeveless (tube top-tops) or spaghetti straps. so they require more layers, which i capital H hate in summer time. does yours have sleeves?
ReplyDeleteLes, the sleeve issue is big for me, too. Mine does not have sleeves, it has straps and a straight top. So i still have to wear a tee under it. But at least it is not plungey. I don't like plungey.
ReplyDeleteI say nay. I didn't like them in the seventies and don't care for them now - especially in the flimsy polyester fabric most seem to be made from. Besides, you have too cute of a shape to hide! Mom
ReplyDeleteI couldn't do the maxi dress, but am liking my maxi skirt.
ReplyDeletei say yes, but i have a weird body and the maxi dress really gives me a lot of leeway in the mid-section department.
ReplyDeleteI like maxi dresses, except they seem to always be sleeveless and too long (on me). Good luck with it! I'd like to find something cool and comfortable, like a maxi dress for the summer.
ReplyDeleteI love them and two summers ago, they were all that I wore. Literally. For the whole summer.
ReplyDeleteAnd then in the fall none of my other clothes fit, because I really let myself go because I had no waistband telling me to reign it in!
But I still love them :)
love love love them, but if you feel too tentish, i say put a belt around the waist. done!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely yay. You're right, they are effortless. I consider them my summer equivalent of jeans and a t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteSlip on some pretty sandals and maybe some accessories and you've got something you can wear out to dinner.
Is that what they're called?! :) I own 3, but am fashion retarded, and didn't know they were called maxi dresses! I love them. I wear a down east basic cap sleeve shirt with them and call it good. I of course still have to try on quite a few to find one that looks good on me (non tent like), but I'm tall, so I haven't had to hem one so far. I've recently gotten 2 more from Kohls- they had quite a few cute ones. I love that I can wear them anywhere- out and about running errands with kids, out on a date with my husband,to church... depending on the shoes you wear and your accessories, it can totally work. I haven't found one yet, but I've also seen girls put on a summer cardigan (I think that's what they're called?) with them when wearing them to church, and that really seemed to complete the look. Fun!
ReplyDeleteI kind of feel like you have to be tall and skinny to pull it off. I'd rather wear a skirt.
ReplyDeleteAmen to exactly what Leslie said. I love maxi dresses but I hate layering in the summer and I have yet to find a maxi dress with sleeves that I like and that fits.
