I like to pretend that I know how to embroider.
But really, I don't have any idea what I'm doing.
Oh well. I think this gets the point across. And it was fun!
Do you want to pretend to embroider, too? Here's what I did:
1. I printed a really big "e" on the computer.
2. Then I traced it with a light pencil onto the fabric.
3. I used 4 strands of embroidery floss for my stitches, which I tried to make as even as possible, but they are definitely not perfect.
4. After I finished the "e", I thought it looked a bit bare, so I added a few little knots around the edges.
5. It's plain and simple and just my style.
Are you a real embroiderer? Do you have any helpful tips to share?

no tips here, i'm a pretender too. i think your e looks sweet.
ReplyDeleteI pretend too. I use the same steps as you.
ReplyDeleteI think it's darling!
ReplyDeleteas always, it's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI embroidered "Maya" onto a plain teal shirt because it looked to bare. I didn't have embroidery thread, so I used brown and white bakers twine. It looks really cute, surprisingly. But I kind of winged it. I was happy with the result, even though I had never done anything like that before. Cute "e" :)
ReplyDeleteCute! I've only done pillow cases that came printed with a design, once back in YW for some goal! You could find other stich styles online, we tried to do them once when I did activity days! Also, Martha Stewart Baby had some really cute patterns once, if you want I can scan some and e-mail you! Does the "e" mean you found a name?
ReplyDeleteI love to embroider! I've got a free tutorial on my blog about how to do it, with some good resources for you and directions for how to take any picture you want and turn it into an iron-on transfer.
