1,079 reviewers can't be wrong.

It's been a very lazy Saturday at our house. We've spent the day reading, napping, relaxing, and getting over our colds. It's been really nice. Add baking cookies to the list, and the fact that it's a beautiful day outside, and this just might be my idea of heaven.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Mix in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or just until set. Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

I've been wanting to make homemade ice cream sandwiches for a while now. I thought this cookie recipe would go really well with the peanut butter cookie dough ice cream that has been sitting in my freezer. And boy did it. They turned out great. The recipe had 1,079 positive reviews, so I figured it must be a good one. It did not disappoint. I baked mine for a full 10 minutes, and plan to store the ones not employed in my ice cream sandwich operation in my air tight cookie jar, so hopefully they will not dry out, as that was the major complaint of most of the reviewers. They are crispy, soft, and positively loaded with chocolate.

  7. I found this recipe on Pinterest today and made the cookies for the sammich part of some Whoopie Cookies I'm making for a bake sale fundraiser.
These are, hands down, the best chocolate cookies I've ever made. The only modifications I made were leaving out the chocolate chips and nuts ( I wanted unadulterated cookies :-) and I used one stick unsalted butter and one stick salted. I think salted butter just richens the flavor,
THANK YOU so much for posting this recipe!
