The Glamorous Life of a Day Laborer

Mike and I set the nearly impossible goal of finishing our backyard by Thanksgiving. I'm not sure what we were thinking.

We have tons (literally) of dirt and gravel being delivered tomorrow.

So I have been digging. And raking. And installing bender board edging for the past three days straight.

My body hurts.
But I think our yard is going to look fabulous!

  1. can't wait to see pictures of the finished product.

i'm sure it's gonna look awesome!

  2. Three cheers for landscaping!!! I hear ya on the sore muscles. I shoveled one (only 1) wheelbarrow of pebbles and I was sore for 3 days- In places I didn't even know I had muscles--so I can only imagine how sore you must be. The upside? Great workout: )Can't wait to see how great it looks!

  3. i get sore picking weeds, so i'm right there with you. it is really satisfying to get out there and do something sometimes though. but only if the weather's nice. :)

  4. Impressive! I bet it will look great when it's done! Too bad it's been so hot this week for you guys though.

  5. Sounds so nice! Wish we could have a backyard. I've put in so many hours of digging, racking, etc. and it still looks awful. Can't wait to see what it turns out like.

  6. can't wait to see it then figure out from your yard what i might want to do to our yard, besides plant citrus trees.

  7. The backyard is looking promising... I can see why your back hurts, but it will be a good hurt and worth it when everything is finished.
Now, where are the photos of the chicken coop?
PS Your children are growing so fast. Love seeing all the photos.

  8. Eric and I totally understand. This summer every weekend we had we spent working on our yard. is that a fruit tree in the back ground picture, what kind is it? make sure you post finished product pictures.
