Thing 6

No matter what the parenting books say, it is ok to rock a baby to sleep.

I'm so tired of hearing about "sleep training". Eventually all babies sleep through the night. So rather than stress about it, I have decided to follow my instincts (see Thing 5) and rock my Stella to sleep.

Now, I realize that all babies and parents are different.
This is what works for me.

She's still not sleeping through the night, and that very well may be my fault, but I'm ok with it.
I can get more sleep when she's not a baby anymore.

  4. Love your blog! I totally agree with you on this--and with my first he eventually figured out how to stay asleep, my second however is another story. She is 14 months and has to sleep next to me--and be held by me most of the day. she also wont go to sleep until very late at night--the problem is she's totally miserable and cranky because she doesn't get enough sleep and only naps for like 30 minutes during the day. whew got that off my chest.

Anyway...I need to be able to put her down and I can't because I've created a little monster. What to do what to do...ladies?

  5. I so agree! Neither of my girls slept through the night until after they were a year old. But you know what? My kids are the type that I put to bed (after they are sleeping through the night) and they stay there. No begging for one more drink of water, snack, etc. I think it is because they are secure... and that comes from all the rocking to sleep when they were babies =)

  7. There is nothing more wonderful for mom's with new babies to finally get them to sleep - but those months of them being little jellybeans that just want to be cozied and loved is gone before you know it. I'll give up sleep any day for those sweet little moments at 4am, when all they could ever want or need is mommy.

I never listened to any of my friends and I rocked every one of them to sleep....what I wouldn't give to rock a baby to sleep again! It goes way to fast...enjoy every moment!
