I think it took having my other babies to really trust my instincts.
I feel confident in my ability to mother and that has made all the difference.
Also, I have found that it is better to be calm, to be quiet, and to listen.
I think that as mothers, we need to rely heavily on the Spirit. I know I do. I'm not sure what kind of mother I would be if I didn't listen to that still small voice guiding and reassuring me.

you're right. and just because you feel one way about parenting your child doesn't mean that another person will be prompted the same way. all kids and all moms are different. my goal is not to judge. being in the nursery at church has helped me see that all kids need to be parented in different ways and nobody, i mean no body, knows a baby like its mama. what a privilege we get these little people.
ReplyDeletebeautifully put, stephanie.
ReplyDeleteand can i just say that i covet your hair daily? yes, it's true.
Very true. When I get all stressed out- I realize it's because I haven't taken the time to sit, be quiet, and listen!
ReplyDeleteI think my confidence also came with number 2 baby. I think staying calm is such a hard but key thing to do. When chaos is raging - it is most always because of me, trying to do too much in one day or leaving the kids to entertain themselves for too long so I can get "things done." Instead of getting upset at my little men - I just try and refocus my priorities...them.
ReplyDeleteI needed to hear that today. :) Thanks!
ReplyDelete(I found you through various links of your awesome advent)
ReplyDeleteI so so agree. There were nights if I didn't trust my connection with the Spirit, I don't know if I could have slept.
Thanks :)
