Simple Pleasures

Oliver came home from school today with pumpkin scented play dough.
He was happy.

This conversation followed:

Oliver: Mom, can I play with hard animals in my play dough?
Me: Yes.
Oliver: This is the best day of my life!

Sometimes I wish I were a four year old boy.

  1. Man. I need to emote that kind of enthusiasm in my own life.
Me:Can I have the rest of your pumpkin pie piece?
    Roger: Yes.
Me: This is the BEST day of my life!
    Yeah. I can swing it.

  2. oh my goodness, this is one of my favorite posts ever. so cute and so awesome.

  3. he looks really old in that picture, and i hope his teacher reads your blog. that would make her day! :)

  4. I am so glad he is having the best day of his life. Pretty much every day is "the worst day of my life" for Emma. Can't wait for that phase to end!

    Love his cute face!

  5. Wow, he looks so old.

If we could only learn to enjoy the simple pleasures as much as children...

  6. That is cute- Gracie says the same thing- I also hear "today is the worst day of my whole life" whenever anything goes wrong, even on the "best day" of her whole life.

  7. That is cute. i love talking to my kids and they are so honest! Like when Lily told Eric "dad you eat like a monster" (meaning he eats really fast)

  8. As soon as the elections are over, I believe I'll get Oliver's groove into my life! :) So nice to have little boys to remind us how terrific each day can be.
