I Heart Primary

Last month, I became a Primary teacher for the first time in my life. At first, I was bummed because I love going to Relief Society, and I knew that I was really going to miss it. But I was surprised to learn that I love Primary, too! I teach the 10 and 11 year olds. There are 4 kids in my class (2 boys and 2 girls who sit miles apart and never make direct eye contact with each other). They are so sweet. Every week I feel the Spirit. Every week I learn something new. I just hope that the kids in my class are learning something, too.

  1. that is awesome - it gives me hope, because I too, love RS and kinda dread the day I am called out. I was in the nursrey for a year and a half, but that was when we were newly weds...I am glad to have positive reports from both you and Leslie that Primary can be great, too.

  4. i just hope you're the kind of primary teacher who tries to keep kids quiet during the chorister's singing time. :) maybe you even sing. those are the best teachers. :)

  5. It's so good to hear that you like primary! So do I! I liked it before, but now that Bentley is in Primary (and Maxwell in nursery) it's really nice to be there. It's not the same as going to Relief Society or Sunday School and being taught, and I used to miss Relief Society for that reason, but I'm learning a lot in primary and I love the spirit that I feel there. Yeah for primary! :)

  6. I love my primary calling too. I think that senior primary is where it's at. The only drawback is not knowing when any of the Relief Society get-togethers are, but if your RS Presidency is good at keeping the primary informed, then it's not a problem.

  7. i love those kids--are they 4th graders or 5th graders? there is something magical about being able to teach children. i feel the Spirit everyday when i work with them--and i am only teaching language arts and math. perhaps there is something to that "become as a little child" exhortation (wink, wink). i am jealous that you have a primary calling. enjoy it! i bet you are a superstar.

  8. I had this same experience only 2 years ago. I had never been in primary as an adult and got the same class with the same amount of kids. I thought I was going to miss RS too, but I enjoyed Primary so much and felt the spirit so strongly each week... I didn't even have time to miss RS. I always said, Primary is the closest thing to heaven on earth!
