a marathoner
He did it! Despite the IT band issues that plagued his training, he did it. Mike ran the Phoenix Marathon this weekend, and he finished fast and strong. I didn't expect to be so emotional, but there I was at the finish line, crying for him, and for everyone who participated, really. Marathons are intense, and to finish one is such an accomplishment. I am so proud of him.

Congratulations to Mike (and to you too because I know we wives/moms chip in at home with those long runs on weekends! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been to a whole lot of marathon finish lines (as a spectator only :) and I cry every single time no matter who I'm cheering for. They are just amazing and emotional events! Congrats
ReplyDeleteI had to look up his time because I am that sort of numbers person and HE TOTALLY ROCKED IT!!! 4:14 is freaking amazing!!!!! Good work Mike. We were there but left right after the half. nate ran the 10k and I did the half and then we had to rush home. It is always fun visiting with friends at races. We will hang out next year, because it's your turn next!

ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with your marathon check off Mike!! But I am even more impressed that you got Andrew to run in DC. You should get a trophy for that. All around impressive.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mike! And well done Stephanie! - supporting someone training for a marathon is a big commitment no your part as well.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have anyone at the finish line when I crossed - I wish that had been different . . . .
IT band pain is no joke. So happy he was able to work through it and rock that race! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mike!
