sayonara summer

This week has been a quiet one, which is just fine with me. I've been able to make a dent in my humongous book (War and Remembrance- so good, but so long), I've taken naps and baked cakes, and I even got to to spend some time with friends at the park. (It's really not park weather yet, but we braved the heat anyway and I am so glad we did!)

Yesterday I cleaned out my closet. First I boxed up my summer clothes because even though it's still 104 outside, I just can't stand to look at them for one more second. Then I tried on everything else. (Even my sweaters, which was sort of painful, since sweater weather is still weeks away.) Lots of things were sent to the donation pile, and now I am left with the bare minimum, and that is just how I like it. Does having too many wardrobe choices paralyze you, too? I'd rather have a handful of tops that I love and a few pairs of pants that fit well. And that's really all I need. Except a chambray shirt! I am on the look out for the perfect one. Let me know if you see it.

Happy last day of summer and have a good weekend!

  1. Just yesterday I ordered GAP's fitted boyfriend chambray shirt. Although I don't know any boyfriend that would want a ruffle on his shirt! It is the perfect mix of rustic and girly.
We are definitely moving into sweater weather out here already... I hope I'm ready.

  2. It always feelsl so good to get the closet cleaned and reorganized. I need to do that too as our closet isn't very big and so keeping things to just the necessities is the best way. Know you are tired of summer but we say that every year. Love you

yes, i keep a tiny closet, because no matter how much i have, i tend to wear only my very favorite items again and again.
i've found a local consignment store to do away with items that just don't make the cut.

You make me want to simply my life. I love it. I always end up just wearing the same few shirts and pants anyway... so why do I hold onto everything else? Silly me.

  6. Just randomly came across your blog. It's a cutie!:) I live in AZ too (gilbert). Haven't been here too long. Will this heat ever go away? Please say yes! I'm DYING! Happy blogging.

  7. I wasn't interested in a denim button up until I found this one:

The peter pan collar and contrast stitching would make it fun to wear! (And a bit different then whats out there.) I'm hoping to snag it one of these days.

  8. American Eagle has some cute chambray shirts; one that is really light and one a little darker. Very cute! Happy Fall!

  11. I get the idea you may be on the smaller side (petite). If so check out gap kids in the xxl size - they have a cute one that isn't too long if you don't tuck it in.

  12. Oh my! A chambray shirt is on the top of my list too! I just got a polka dot one from old navy that I haven't worn yet. I need a plain one!
