Our boy loves tacos. Plus, his birthday falls on Cinco de Mayo, so what choice did we have but to load up the Wagoneer and head to the best taco shop in town? We went early to beat the holiday rush, and had the place to ourselves.
(If you ever come to visit me, I will take you to lunch there and we will eat fish tacos together. Locals, it's on Broadway just west of the DI.)
We headed home for mint chocolate cake. He blew out my match before I could light the other candle. (Don't worry, his face is not as close to the flames as it appears.) He was singing "Happy Day" to himself all afternoon. Oh, how we love him!
Other highlights:
Stella had her face painted.
Mike and Oliver survived the annual fathers-and-sons camp out.
My sister called.
oh my gosh, that squinty face picture is so cute, steph! i'm so glad he had a happy birthday.
ReplyDeletewas it impossible to get Stella to wash her face? she look so pretty!!
Oh how can that happen so fast already! (And I love your hair long...so pretty!) Mint chocolate cake? You have to post that recipe!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little boy he is! Also thanks for mentioning the taco shop. I have wondered about it many a times when going to d.i. but was never adventurous enough to try it out.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Stella. Hard to believe Elliot is 2 already. Sorry I missed his birthday. There are so many and I am not being very good at remembering all of them. I will try to do better. So sorry I forgot. Have Mabel, Oliver and Stella give him a big hug for me and a kiss too. This was an important day for you too as you gave birth to that precious little boy. Love you mucho
ReplyDeleteGrammy
What a darling bday boy! I wish Jalisco was closer to us. Henry eats an entire shrimp ceviche tostada all by himself!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your little man. He is so cute. My little guy also sings, "Happy Day." This age is just so sweet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! I love the pics of him with his cake. Adorable. And I agree that you should share the mint chocolate cake recipe. Yum! Elliot is such a sweetie!
ReplyDeletethanks for the taco tip! I'll have to swing by the next time I'm at DI!
ReplyDeleteIf you are ever out in my neck of the woods I totally recommend America's Taco shop (2 in PHX and one in Tempe at Rural/University). Some of the best burritos I've ever had!
Happy Birthday to your little man!
ReplyDeleteWe ADORE that taco place- it is our favorite too! YUM!
And I would LOVE to have your recipe, Mint Chocolate is my favorite combination!

ReplyDeleteLeslie, is this in Dallas or FW? The restaurant. I don't recognize the intersection you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI'm an idiot! Wrong sister. So sorry Stephanie.
ReplyDeleteIs that the Jalisco on Gilbert? If so, it's fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute family, Steph.
west of the DI on broadway...mmmm. i'll have to check that out. We're always trying to find the best taco shop in town and haven't had much luck. Thanks for the tip.
