life lately

I've been busy sewing. Mostly for other people. I am grateful for the work, and for the teeny bit of money it brings. This is the view above my machine. It is a pretty motley collection of sewing supplies, but I think it is beautiful.

Despite the five years that separate them, Oliver and Elliot get along so well. That makes me happy. Mostly Oliver is just a really good sport and does whatever Elliot wants him to do. Lately, that includes lots of piggy back rides.

I haven't cut my hair in six months! This is the longest it's been in a very long time. There are so many cute hairstyles around these days, but this is my question: Do they give you a monster headache, too? I'm afraid a braid is about as much as I can handle.

Yesterday, the afternoon light pouring into Elliot's window stopped me in my tracks. Light equals happiness around here.

Sometimes I think our neighborhood is stuck in 1978. In a good way. Kids ride their bikes all afternoon and play pick-up games of baseball in the park, neighbors are friendly and take care of each other. I love it. Last night was our semi-annual block party. The weather was just right and we all had such a good time. I am so grateful to live here.

I've been kind of overwhelmed the last few days with happiness. I don't know if it's because I've been taking more naps, or eating more cookies, but I am just so happy, and so very grateful for this little life of mine.

  3. Oh how I loooong for a neighborhood like that. That is truly such a blessing. I'm going to keep hoping and praying though and maybe one day it'll be mine as well.

And are we talking literal headaches here? Because I would LOVE one of those messy buns with the headbands and bangs, but just putting a bobby pin in my hair gives me a massive headache so headbands and updo's of all kinds are out for me =0\ (if you weren't speaking literally then just pretend that weird comment didn't happen haha).

  4. Your life does seem a bit fantasy like. In a good way. It makes me try to see mine the same way.

  5. I love seeing the beauty and joy that simple things bring to you. I have been having those same thoughts lately about how blessed and happy I am with my little family. Your neighborhood is WAY cooler than mine though. Not that mine is bad, just not as lively. :)
And the hair thing, ummm ya! I was in a hurry this morning and put my hair up wet in a bun. My head about exploded by lunch time.

  7. A little while ago you shared some instagram photos of a wedding dress you were doing some extra work to. I'd love it if you shared pictures of the finished dress. The detail shots on instagram were so beautiful.
