some things

please note: I love this gorgeous room.

1. I am a little more than half way through my pregnancy, but my belly thinks we're closer to the finish, I think. It is large already. What can you do?

2. We haven't yet chosen a name for this boy. Although we each have a favorite. I'm secretly waiting for Mike to give in and go with my choice. It's a good one.

3. I have a new to-do list system for myself this year. I write everything I need to do on a page in a little mini notebook. If I don't do something, it gets moved to the next page for the next day. It's not fancy or complicated, but I like having all of my lists in one place.

4. The smell of freshly baked bread no longer makes me sick. (It was my worst morning sickness culprit, can you believe it?) So I'm on a mission to make bread. Really good bread.

5. After nearly four years in our house, we have finally saved up enough cash to redo our floors. Goodbye 30 year old parquet and hello reclaimed brick? Maybe. (I'm using the picture above from housebeautiful as inspiration). But our water heater is on the brink. Sigh. The floors might have to wait.

  2. You'll have to email me about the brick... I'm wondering how the heck you would keep that clean?!?

And I think your belly is still very petite. And beautiful!

  3. I like parquet! I really do...of course I LOVE brick, but I think you could find a way to make the parquet look just as cool...stained really dark or really light?
My husband convincing method of using MY name: I just say it ALL the time...they somehow get brainwashed into liking it if they hear it enough!

  4. don't you just hate when you save money for something that you want but then something you need brakes or stops working so you have to fix that instead. glad your feeling better.

  7. I thought those were travertine subway tiles. Reclaimed brick? How romantic.

  8. We've been saving for carpet in our bedroom and we're scared something is wrong with our heat so I feel your pain...the floors are beautiful, I hope you get 'em!

  10. I think I stumbled here thru a link to your hemming jeans tutorial. Anyway, I've stayed and loved it (tried out the onesie dress, too). I'm so glad to hear that you can tolerate the smell of fresh baked bread; I mean, could there be anything worse?!

  11. lovely floors - would be perfect in your AZ heat. cannot wait to hear your little prince's name - no doubt it will be simple and full of class, just like your other three. your mini notebook is just up my alley - my 2010 is a moleskine red notebook, that allows lists (LOVE me my lists!) and the week's schedule on the other side. perfect.

  12. I like your to do list idea, I want to become a list maker, I think it will help organize my brain... My sister got a great bread recipe book, Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day, I want to try it. ANd I love the look of brick floors!

  13. I stumbled onto your blog from somewhere else (but I love it, you inspire me to be a better mother, so I come back often). So it's really none of my business, but if it were me, as gorgeous as the brick floor is, I would be hesistant to get it with little kids in the house. My kids fall down too much; brick would be hard on wobbly little kids (literally). Good luck with whatever you decide!
