I made pumpkin bread.

Because it is my favorite treat in the whole world. And it is not fall unless there is some baking in my oven. Even if I feel like throwing up.

And because I think everyone needs to have some baking in their own oven right now, here is my great aunt Lucille's recipe:

Pumpkin Bread
3 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
3 cups sugar
1 cup oil
4 eggs
2 cups canned pumpkin

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Mix all ingredients.
3. Pour into two greased bread pans.
4. Bake for one hour.

In other news, we haven't had to use our air conditioner in 2 days! I know some of you don't like fall because it means that winter is right around the corner. Guess what, I feel the same way about spring. But fall, fall is heaven here in the desert. You should come visit.

  1. This may be the very thing that gets me through this season. Thanks for posting the recipe. I'll for sure be making this tomorrow...probably weekly until May 2010 if you want to know the truth.

  2. Remember on Monday you said you've been thinking about apple pie since I first mentioned it a couple weeks ago? Well now I'm going to be thinking about this bread until I can get to the store to buy some pumpkin.

  8. Thanks for the recipe. Nothing welcomes family home better than a clean house and the smell of something freshly baked. On today's agenda is the clean house, maybe I can fit in some pumpkin bread - better get busy. Hope you're feeling better soon, the Fall weather has got to help.

  17. Mmmmm I made your bread today. We are gluten free over here and it still turned out great! My husband who has a hard time eating anything he knows is gluten free that shouldn't be (like bread) usually won't even try a bite. But I buttered up a nice warm piece and he is currently finshing off half a loaf by himself. So thank you for sharing and thanks for being one of the cute blogs I like to peek in on.

    {Ooooh it would also be really good with chocolate chips and maybe some nuts in it too.}
