a green dress for a green-loving sister

Sometimes the best patterns are the simplest. This one, from 1968, was a gem. I used a grass green linen. Isn't it sweet? The trick was to make the size 14 pattern fit my size 0 sister. I think I got the proportions just right so that it doesn't look like a garbage bag. I might have to make one for myself. Any other takers?

  5. yes. i need a size 4ish. though, it will only fit for a couple of weeks, and then i'll cry, so maybe it's best to make a size 24 for after i have this kid.

  8. I love this dress! I am a visitor from Cardigan Empire and love your tip on hemming jeans. From the looks of your blog you are quite a seamstress so I have a question for you: I have a black dress very similar to the one you created here that I need to wear as a bridesmaid in a few weeks. I, being very tall, actually need to add some length to the bottom of the dress to make it more appropriate for me to wear. Do you have any suggestions or tips for this sort of project?

    Thanks!

  10. Is it remotely possible that it looks as good in a size 10 as it does in a size 0? I'm doubtful... :) It's SO cute though! I'll bet Leslie is really glad she gave you that dress form!

  14. Steph, this is so cute and will look great on Les. Think you need to make one for yourself. On the other hand now that I have lost so much weight I would even like one. That color green is my favorite so know Les will love it.Love and Hugs

  21. That is such a lovely dress and a beautiful shade of green. I wish I lived in AZ and could hire you to teach me how to sew. But I think even with lessons I probably wouldn't be able to do such amazing work.
