My husband is a genius.

But you probably already knew that.

He built this chair for Stella.
With his own two hands and lots of random things we had around the house.

It's a life saver, let me tell you.

Babies in spica casts can't bend or walk or move.
It's a major drag.

In her "power chair" as Mabel calls it,
Stella points where she wants to go and we obey with a push.
It's not that different from before she broke her leg, I guess.
She's always had us all wrapped around her little finger.

  1. I can't even imagine how hard it must be. I'm sure you've just had to everything on hold. That is a pretty sweet chair! Hang in there.

  2. And obviously, I meant "to PUT everything on hold."

  4. Stephanie,
I am so sorry that your little Stella is hurt. It is terrible for a mother. Hang in there, let me know if there is anything I can do.

  7. You husband is the coolest dad EVER! Well my dad is pretty cool too, he make things like that (or things to help us)when we were little...those are the things kids remember and have fond memories of...My best to Stella, and you..

  11. When I first saw this I burst out laughing! I'm very glad that it works for her! Can you imagine if someone walked by and saw this crazy contraption with a kid in it (of course minus being able to see the cast because that just makes the purpose of the quad chair on a skate board obvious...and is that a plant stand too?)..what would they think??!?

  17. I don't know whether to laugh or cry, so I'm going to do both. That is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen...the skateboard, the "lawn chair", everything...it is so obviously a "dad" invention.
Hope it's not too miserable for you both.
I've had to deal with my share of casts/broken bones, but never to this extent...
and it was really really hard the first week or two...

  22. Hi Stephanie,
I found you from Sarah at Cloverlane who I've been following for a couple of years. I've recently started following you and started at the beginning of your blog and I love your blog! I love the short little snippets and the longer ones too. I found this one and while I was sad for poor Stella and you; this cracked me up! My husband is very handy, creative, helpful, brilliant like Mike, and this is totally something he would do. By the way, I love your modest cute style of clothing.
Thanks for letting me tag along ;)
    Holly
