so sweet, though my only suggestion is to skip her to second grade, because - wow! - that's impressive writing, spelling and emotional thought for a first grader.
Poor Mabel. I hope she went out with Mike this morning, and maybe it wouldn't hurt to explain that we don't go garage saling over the summer, cause it's too hot.
my theory is that mabel has been reading a few too many books and is trying to create some drama and/or mystery in her life. i think we used to do the same thing.
but still, that note is really sad. talk about a guilt trip.
First grade is hard. I remember running all the way home from school the first day of first grade and crying because I just knew that I would never learn how to read. Anyway, Mike has to take her to garage sales at least once in awhile if that will help her realize that things haven't changed that much. What a sweet note-be sure to SAVE it and in later years it will be even more precious. Love and Hugs Grammy
What a sweetie. But sadness aside, I am completely impressed with her spelling! My 1st grader has been having a hard time making the adjustment too; she keeps telling me that she's "nervous." 6-yr-olds shouldn't be feeling anxiety; I wish they could have half-day school forever so they still have plenty of time to be carefree.
Stephanie, you probably don't remember me from your old Ladera ward. I served with your sis-in-law in YW...Anyway...I love visiting your blog. Your family and postings are so cute. This is HILARIOUS! Sweet little girl! Life becomes tough when you begin to realize that being the eldest child has its bummer moments sometimes.! :) arlene
Oh - garage sales huh? A girl after my own heart. That letter is priceless. Mabel is a doll. My favorite part is her hiding it under your pillow. Classic move. She is a regular heartbreaker.
Joy is having a hard time with the changes of 1st grade too! she keeps complaining about going all day. like they didn't last year or something? i think it's an age stage. and it's totally going around. lots of 1st graders that aren't too happy. what a cute note!

ReplyDeleteOhhhh how sad! But that is the cutest note. Is Mike taking her to a garage sale today?
ReplyDeleteOh no! That is so cute and sad! 1st grade is hard, kids start to be mean. That is so sweet though.
ReplyDeleteAwwww! That is precious and heartbreaking all at the same time!
ReplyDeleteWe are hosting a "cookie sale" to help support NieNIe and her family.

That's really cute... maybe you should break the buying only necessities rule and let her go on monthly dates with her dad to garage sales.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Ginger and Miss Dub. It probably wouldn't hurt to just have a school ditch day once a month either. Those were always my favorites!
