Dear Reader,
My friend, Melanie, is having a baby.
Because I like her, I am throwing her a baby shower.
But I need your help.
My cheesy brunch casserole and sour cream lemon pound cake are so played.
My creativity in the food department has been swallowed up by my queasy stomach.
My brain is having a mental food block.
My sucess as hostess of this party depends entirely upon you.
What are your favorite brunchy shower foods?
Please email me (if you have my email address)
or leave a comment stating your favorite shower treats.
Feel free to include a recipe.
Or not.
I just need some ideas.
Thanks a brunch,
Stephanie
thanks, flickr, for the darling photo

hey! I have an awesome omlet bake that i made for my sister-in-law's baby shower and it was a big hit. i will give you the recipe when i see you next. it's great. ps. keep remembering that i'm going to help in any way that i can!
ReplyDeleteI've found chocolate covered strawberries are always a hit.
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice of you to put on a shower for your friend. I had a brunch-type shower for my little sister and a couple ladies in the ward helped with food and I thought it turned out fab!
ReplyDeleteOn the menu was delicious quiche, orange rolls, huge fruit trays with a different variety of fruit dips, a chocolate fountain for strawberries, pretzels...etc, little nut cups mixed with dried cranberries and blueberries and we had a yummy slushy drink.
In the drink was a large can pineapple juice, one large can frozen OJ and 2 liters of Sprite... mix it all together with crushed ice-- nice, light and brunch like. :)
Hope you start feeling better soon. I have a lot sympathy-- it wasn't long ago I was feeling like that.
I have a really great Bacon Cream cheese crescent roll recipe. I'll send it to Leslie and she can fwd it to you since I don't have your email address. Happy baby!
ReplyDeleteI like fruit. Especially when it's hot outside. Pretty fruit, cut up all... pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm a lot of help, I know. :)
I like to do fruit kabobs - they are bright and colorful and add a lot to a display table. Mini muffins are also something I like to do - in different flavors: banana, (using Leslie's banana bread recipe - adding chocolate chips is fun) pumpkin, gingerbread, lemon, poppyseed...plus they are little, so they echo the baby shower idea...so cute.
ReplyDeleteFRUIT PIZZA!!! Oh I dream of fruit pizza!
ReplyDeleteShall I just bring it?
I just have to say that your sour cream lemon pound cake could never be overplayed. I'll email you some ideas if I come up with anything brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI just went to a shower and had the most delightful, yet eay treat! The hostess filled half the cup with fresh berries and the rest with plain yogurt. On the side she served homemade granola and it was so amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh I like the fruit pizza idea- yum! With snickerdoodle crust. And fruit kabobs are pretty and good too. If you want to get really creative, you could make those Edible Arrangements with the kabobs...
ReplyDeleteQuiche, muffins, and fruit. Yummo.
