happy weekend
Do you have a pet? We have a cat. Her name is Inez. As far as cats go, she is really great. She stays off most of the furniture, she goes outside to use the bathroom, and I've never seen a hairball. Aside from the occasional lizard or bird parts I find on the stairs, I'd say she's the best pet we could have. Which actually isn't saying much, because to be honest, I'm not a pet person. And so why she has chosen me, the only person in our house who ignores her, to be her favorite is a total mystery. I laid down the other day to take a nap and she crawled right up on my chest. Mike will be petting her, and she will be completely content, and then I will walk into the room and she'll leave him to come to me. I don't ever intentionally touch her because then I will start sneezing, so why, why does she love me the best?
In other news, tonight Oliver has a campout, Mabel is babysitting, and Stella is having a late night with her cousins. Phew! What are Mike and Elliot and I going to do?
I just finished reading Brooklyn and The Nightingale. I'd easily recommend both.
I just can't get behind the high-waisted denim look.
And here's a super cool little video about my talented surfboard-making brother, Matt.
Have a happy weekend!

I read Brooklyn and loved it! Nightingale is now on my mental "to read" list. I also have a pet who is like that with me. Our old dog Cooper. :) let's just say he's a great dog besides the hair and smell that isn't necessarily his fault. My husband loves him!

ReplyDeleteI'm scared about the denim thing because I remember saying how much I thought skinny jeans were lame. And now guess what. :(
ReplyDeleteHaven't read the books but am sorting through some others right now. Yes, we have 2 cats and I AM a pet person, they are family to us. Also, Our cats are inside only because I'm a firm believer in that, unless one lives on a farm and that is what our humane society shelter recommends as well (where we've adopted all of our cats over the years). My Lucy cat is attached to me like that, but that's because I adore her and dote on her like no one else in the family. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
My Mom has a theory that cats always are drawn to people who like them the least! Haha! I just finished the Nightingale and it was so so good! I can't stop thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about the jeans. Although the models do look pretty chic, my short legs and peary body type are very ill-suited to that kind of jean...skirts forever. And as always, thanks for the book recs!
ReplyDeleteOur 2 pets growing up were always drawn to my mom. It's like they knew that's who the nurturer was. And the jeans. Eeek. I agree with Leslie though. I really didn't love skinny jeans at first, but the thought of those high waisted ones is worse to me. They remind me of tacky outfits from when I was young. Why do we have to repeat such things?!
ReplyDeleteThis photo cracks me up! It kinda sorta reminds me of a photo of Elliot asleep in your arms in the rocking chair.
ReplyDeleteHow did you come up with the name Inez for your cat? That is my grandma's name, and I have never heard it before, except for my grandma. I saw trendy teenage girls wearing high waisted jeans a couple weeks ago, and they looked like the terrible mom jeans from the past. It looked SO bad, and I'm in a panic that this is the style that jeans are headed. PANIC! I just watched the movie, Brooklyn, it was o.k. Will you see the movie too? Did you like the book?
ReplyDeleteWe got the name Inez from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. It's the name of a statue of a woman in the Alamo. Weird, I know. :) But I actually think it's a really great name for people, too.
DeleteI liked the book Brooklyn better than the movie. The book is always better than the movie!
I see girls in high waist-ed daisy dukes and I think they are so unflattering...totally like mom jeans. I love low rise, so i may be getting out of style. I try to get plain and classic fits. And i too have a pear shape so it is hard finding pants that fit right...and Huge STRONG QUADS...i have to embrace them, The more I cycle and run hills and ultras the bigger they get...stronger I mean.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked the book!
