renovations

Every summer, I make a big list of things I want to fix up around the house. Then the 110 degree days hit and I realize that what I really want to do is lay on the couch with a good book instead. So my list gets pushed to the fall. Every single year.

But I am happy to report that we actually crossed something off that list this summer, even in the midst of this blasted heat. We tiled our main floor hall bathroom! Anything would have been better than the peeling, 35 year old linoleum that was there before, but we chose a clean, white octagonal tile with cream grout. Tiling is hard, but I think I could grout all day long. It is so much fun.

We still have a few other things to complete (like fixing water damaged dry wall, installing baseboards, and moving my antique sink up from the basement), but we are on our way. Hooray!

  1. everything you do looks great-like your ideas.
our only big project was getting a friend old patio chairs which are pvc . they look awful and were very dirty but the bones were good so i spray painted them and redid my old cushions and believe it or not they look pretty good. i also slipcovered the couch with a drop cloth and painted sunflowers on it. our deck is looking better!!!

  2. It's beautiful! I totally relate to the long list every summer. This summer has been mostly a huge deep cleaning project, one after the other. It always feel so good to cross something off the list.

  3. Looks great! I too, when the heat rises, just want to lay on the sofa watching a good movie instead of with a book. ;)

  6. Hey I my friends I tell you something can you give me answer please. Whether you opt for an industrial-like stove or go with a traditional 4 burner model, you should overcompensate when it comes to an exhaust system (especially if you do any sort of consistent or serious cooking). Moreover, try and get your stove installed on an outside wall so that you don’t have a long run to the outside (with your vent tubing). We have a Vent-a-Hood vent and it is quiet, easy to maintain, and very efficient and powerful

“...what I really want to do is lay on the couch with a good book instead.” - I think we all wanted to have that kind of lifestyle even just for a day. But with all the action going on around the house, it will be a miracle if I sit down for 5 good minutes. Anyhow, the tiles look great. I usually hire a contractor because tiling is long process and it really requires a lot of patience. How about you?

  8. Take one at a time, renovations don't have to happen all night. One-shot renovations are for those who want to see their house dramatically change. You don't have to be after that, if you have a lot more important things to do. Changing the floor tiles is a good start. Arthur @ContractorExpress.com
