a project for a Saturday afternoon

Take one very blah t-shirt,
cut out the neck, shorten the sleeves, add some elastic
and a bow
and then go to a party.

I think the neckline could use some finishing, but I'm not sure what.
Any ideas?

  3. Totally cute! Did you use elastic thread on the sleeves? And did you put in little belt loops to hold the ribbon in place?

I supposed you could finish the edge with a serger, or over edge stitch? A shiny rayon type thread would look nice. What did you do to the edges on the sleeves?

  4. ginger,
the edge of the sleeves, the bottom hem, and the neckline are all unfinished. i used thin elastic on the sleeves, though i suppose elastic thread would work, too. i just used what i had on hand. oh, and no belt loops. i didn't think i would want to wear a ribbon with it all the time.
    thanks for the suggestions!

  6. please sign up for project runway! It would be so much fun to follow someone I know! : ) Yes, tutorial please! Also, can you post again, or email me, the tutorial on how to keep the original hem of your jeans...you did that awhile ago. I got some jeans that need to be hemmed, but I don't want to take them to a tailor if I can do it myself, learning from you...dyn2dnz@aol.com

  12. It really is one of my favorites, so nice to see you in it. I have a favorite plain blue shirt with a small stain. I am thinking something like this is just the ticket.

Thanks for getting my mind running.

  14. I'm a stalker (but a nice one). Just wanted to tell you that I followed your hemming jeans tutorial and they came out perfect. I hadn't touched a sewing machine since 8th grade home ec when I made a hot dog pillow. I even needed the manual just to thread the thing. Thanks!
Your shirt is adorable and way past anything I can learn in the manual. :o)

  15. neckline=buttons.

How did you achieve the sleeves? I have some boring T's that could benefit from that effect for sure!!
