I am a firm believer in rocking babies to sleep. I think it's good for the babies and good for the mamas, too. I am thankful for a baby who still requires lots of rocking, because he is most likely our last, and I'm not quite ready to give this habit up.
p.s. I can't read the verse at the end of
this post by my sister without tearing up. It gets me every single time.
Oh Stephanie I am a firm believer too and I have rocked all my babies to sleep also over the past 18 years. And could I admit that I still rock my youngest baby to sleep...and he's (gulp)3? Talk about not ready to give up the habit. I LOVE that picture of you and Elliot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, except I had a baby (now almost 16) who hated being held - she would literally kick off from me from the time she was born. Mom says, I was the same way. We're both highly independent, non-cuddly souls to this day. :) I had a few precious moments of rocking with her but those were very, very few - I do hold them close in my memory.
ReplyDeletethanks for the link. that is an old, old post, but i still feel the same way. enjoy cuddling that little elliot! my boys still let me cuddle them, and I still lie down with Miles every single night until he is asleep. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore rocking my babies. They are only babies for such a short time. i don't think they can be snuggled too much!
ReplyDeleteYou can only make and remember memories so "rock". They are only babies for such a short time. This is such a good way to begin to teach your babies love and love is something we are taught. You will NEVER be sorry for the time spent. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I agree. This posts seems very familiar to me.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I am not alone:)

I love it. I am having my second next week, and rocked the first A TON. He still loves to cuddle and I pray this one does too! Cry it out methods make me cry inside. :(
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%, but what do you do when the baby is 5 months old and still wakes up every two hours?! I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to just let him sleep with me (but he's a crazy acrobat that loves to roll and crawl) or just suck it up and wait for him to grow out of it.
ReplyDeleteI love me some good cuddling, but I am oh so sleepy.
