Calling All Recipes

Dear Reader,

My friend, Melanie, is having a baby.
Because I like her, I am throwing her a baby shower.
But I need your help.
My cheesy brunch casserole and sour cream lemon pound cake are so played.
My creativity in the food department has been swallowed up by my queasy stomach.
My brain is having a mental food block.
My sucess as hostess of this party depends entirely upon you.
What are your favorite brunchy shower foods?
Please email me (if you have my email address)
or leave a comment stating your favorite shower treats.
Feel free to include a recipe.
Or not.
I just need some ideas.

Thanks a brunch,
Stephanie

thanks, flickr, for the darling photo

My 9 Year Old Self

When I was 9, my mom and 2 or 3 other smart moms started an afternoon activity group.
We learned how to sew, how to cook, and we made some awesome scrapbooks.
Do you remember this, Les?
It was pretty much the "Activity Days" program that our church now has for 8-11 year old girls.
It was fun.

I found my scrapbook.

My favorite things about my 9 year old self:
I thought a friend was someone who didn't use bad language.
One of my favorite colors was peach. Blah.
My chief worry was going to 5th grade.
Love meant getting married.
What I sought most out of life as a 9 year old was to find a Delaware license plate.
That was a big deal in our family.
We had an ongoing list of all of the license plates we had seen in our car.
Delaware was the only one we were missing.
Don't worry, we found it eventually.

Finally, Something to Blog About

Note: This post is mostly for grandparents and other various family members who enjoy seeing pictures of my kids.

I still feel yucky all the time,
so any other kind of post is simply out of the question at this point.

Anyway, last night was Mike's Mom's work family picnic.
In the words of Oliver and Mabel, It was FUN!

They really liked feeding the ducks.
Notice the sweatshirts?
That's right, it is the end of April and we still need sweatshirts!

Dear Mrs. Dub,

I did what you asked.
I may have ignored my children, my sister, my sister's children, and any and all housework, but I did it.
Just for you.
Here is what I found:

My first born frolicking in the ocean.

The world's best burp rags, perfect for a baby shower. I am currently working on a blue/brown boy set. It's just an idea. They are really soft and very absorbent. You can find them here.

Good luck with the rest of the hunt.
I can't wait to see your new 'do.
And your new dress.

Love, Stephanie

We Went Away

This weekend Mike and I went away.
We left our house.
We left our kids.
We left our town.

And then we spent the weekend with just each other.

It was heavenly.
